To Johnny with love
Our hearts are full this week as we lost a member of our movement family, Johnny Paul. Johnny was a builder in all facets, not just in construction, but in friendship, mentoring, and true love for people and humanity. There were so many dreams we shared to rebuild and restore our communities, dreams of developing the skills of our young people, and dreams to see our people thriving. With the unexpected and sudden loss of our brother, teacher, and friend we suffer a great loss. But the work we set out to do together and the dreams we dreamt will continue to become a reality as we forge ahead with the determination and passion he shared.
We are thankful for his service to our communities and our people and for taking the time with the young guys to give them the skills to build and live! We are forever grateful for the love and light he bestowed upon us all. All of us at the Chicago Anti Eviction Campaign will honor his legacy by continuing the work of the Community Vacant Lots and Hood for Humanity program with Blocks Together that we promised to do. May he rest peacefully and guide our work from above! For you, Johnny, we will carry the torch with love and perseverance!
